Sarah Nassar completed her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2023 and was a Dean’s Scholar.  She is admitted to both the Michigan Bar and the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan.

While in law school, Ms. Nassar was extremely active in academic and extracurricular organizations.  She was a Junior Member of both the Law Review and Moot Court, 1L Class President of the Student Bar Association, and Vice President of both the Immigration Law Association and American Constitution Society.  She was also the Founder and President of the Disability Law Association at the University of Detroit Mercy.

Ms. Nassar authored a journal article published in the UCLA Disability Law Journal.  “To Be Loved or to Be Healthy: A Disabled Individual’s Conundrum of Choosing Between Marrying Someone They Love or Continuing to Receive the Health Resources They Need” explores the unique challenges disabled persons face regarding their access to critical health resources simply because they wish to be married.  UCLA Disability Law Journal, 5(1), (2024).

Prior to joining Hewson & Van Hellemont, P.C., Ms. Nassar was a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Linda Parker in the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan and was also a Law Clerk for a medical malpractice/personal injury law firm.

Ms. Nassar’s practice focuses on insurance defense and litigation.
