Lucas J. Myers received a full National Merit Scholarship to attend Arizona State University, where he graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He then worked as a liability adjuster for Nationwide Insurance in Ohio until 2007, before accepting a full-tuition Dean King Memorial Scholarship to attend the Michigan State University College of Law. There, he was the only member of his class selected for both moot court and law review. He received his juris doctorate in 2010, graduating summa cum laude.
In 2011, Mr. Myers received an LL.M. in Litigation & Dispute Resolution with high honors from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC.
Mr. Myers began his career as a litigator at an insurance defense firm in Michigan in 2012. In the summer of 2013, Mr. Myers joined a large commercial litigation firm in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he practiced for over three years. In Hawaii, he acted as lead counsel in the successful resolution of several complex civil matters, including class actions. After successfully negotiating a multimillion-dollar settlement on behalf of a class he represented, Mr. Myers returned to the Midwest to practice law closer to friends and family.
In 2017, Mr. Myers joined the Grand Rapids office of Hewson & Van Hellemont. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and insurance defense. In addition to Michigan, Mr. Myers also is admitted to practice before all courts in Virginia (inactive) and Hawaii (inactive).
