Andrea M. Faes graduated from Michigan State University in 2002 with a B.A. from the College of Arts & Letters in French and a B.A. from James Madison College with a double major in International Relations and Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy. Immediately after her undergraduate studies, Ms. Faes began a career in the Michigan House of Representatives where she served as a legislative director for a state representative. In 2012 Ms. Faes graduated with a J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. During the course of her studies, Andrea received a book award in her upper level legal writing course dealing with selected topics in Property Law, specifically Animal Law.
While in law school, Andrea was active in various student organizations including serving as President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, as a co-chair for the Race for Justice 5K, and as an executive board member of Delta Theta Phi, a professional law fraternity. Ms. Faes was also an elected and active member of the Student Bar Association.
Andrea started her legal career as an intern with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Afterwards she joined a law firm practicing collection and creditor rights law. Ms. Faes also worked at Detroit law firm handling insurance and negligence defense for auto-accidents, commercial trucking matters, public utilities and subrogation.
Ms. Faes is licensed to practice in both Michigan and New York and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She joined Hewson & Van Hellemont, P.C. in July 2018 and practices insurance defense for no-fault cases.
