Elona Asimetaj is an analytical litigator devoted to judiciously examining the details of each of her cases to identify the best course of action for clients.
Elona received her Honors of Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto. She attended the University Of Detroit Mercy School Of Law and received her Juris Doctorate in 2018. During the summer months of law school, Elona worked within the General Counsel of a Fortune 20 company in Dubai, UAE where she reviewed contracts to analyze potential impact of corporate transactions as well as researched applicable laws that enabled business transactions in countries under sanctions.
Prior to joining Hewson and Van Hellemont, Elona was a clinical graduate at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Immigration Law Clinic where she represented clients in the US Immigration Court based on Family Sponsorship, Violence Against Women Act petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and Asylum claims. She obtained a grant of permanent residency for a domestic abuse victim who had sought help after having been arrested and detained at a court appearance.
