Nicholas Ayoub received his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in 2003. Following law school, Mr. Ayoub worked as a Research Attorney with the Michigan Court of Appeals where he gained considerable knowledge of the appellate process.

Mr. Ayoub has been in private practice since 2005. Since that time, he has served the insurance industry as a tireless advocate in state and federal trial courts as well as before the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court. Mr. Ayoub is a skilled appellate advocate who has had occasion to influence Michigan jurisprudence on behalf of his clients and for the insurance industry as a whole. Among Mr. Ayoub’s credits is the 2012 decision of the Michigan Supreme Court that overruled the long-standing “family joyriding exception” to the unlawful taking exclusion of the Michigan No-Fault Act. Spectrum Health Hospitals v Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan, 492 Mich 503; 821 NW2d 117 (2012).

Mr. Ayoub has been admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits, the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, as well as all Michigan courts. He is also a member of the Michigan Supreme Court Advocates Guild and a member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC).

Mr. Ayoub joined Hewson & Van Hellemont, P.C. in 2013, and continues to focus his work on substantive motion practice and appellate advocacy in a variety of insurance-related litigation.
